Let’s consider an example of a schema: most children will develop a schema for a birthday party–it includes cake, balloons, presents, etc. So, when the child is asked to recall details about a specific birthday party that he attended several months earlier, he may not remember all of the details, but he may report these details, based on a schema that has been stored.
